Chapter 1033: Chapter 1034 We Don’t Have Money to Pay Tuition Chapter 1033: Chapter 1034 We Don’t Have Money to Pay Tuition But now, Mother had run away?
The young girl, merely in her teens, bore immense pressure.
“You go back to your room to read, I’ll go talk to Dad.”
Da Niu sent her brother away and returned to her room.
“Dad, could Yun Lei go to school?”
Because Yun Lei could only move his upper body and not his lower body, he struggled to sit up. “Da Niu, weren’t you two in school?”
Holding back her tears, Da Niu said, “We don’t have money at home, we can’t pay the tuition fees, both my brother and I have stopped attending school. Dad, please let brother go to school. I am a girl, and I am already this old, just let me stay at home to take care of you.”
This past month had given Yun Lei a lot to think about.
There was no further mention of Zhao Fang’s matter.
“What about the grain? Go call Uncle Yun Hai, I need to talk to him.”
By now, Yun Lei knew they could only rely on his elder brother, with the youngest too far away.
Da Niu, wiping her tears with the back of her hand, went to call Yun Hai.
Upon hearing from Da Niu that his younger brother was seeking him, Yun Hai immediately rushed over.
“Elder brother, if you have something to say, just tell me.” Seeing his second brother in such a state, Yun Hai thought of helping out in any way he could, for after all, they were brothers.
Yun Lei had Da Niu go cook and thus sent her away.
“Elder brother, how much grain did we harvest this time?”
Yun Hai estimated, “There’s more than four thousand catties of grain.”
Yun Lei figured that the three of them, father and sons, would need just over a thousand catties of grain for the year.
But in his condition, he wouldn’t be able to farm next year.
“Elder brother, could you help sell a thousand catties of grain and pay Minghan’s tuition in advance?”
Yun Hai frowned, “Second brother, have you thought this through? If you really sell the grain, who will farm in the future? What will your family eat then?”
Yun Lei spoke seriously, “Elder brother, sell a thousand catties. When we rent out the house in town, we should be able to collect some rent.”
Though paralyzed, Yun Lei was quite clear about how big the house they had built was and its location.
As long as they could rent it out, and by being frugal, it should suffice for the family’s needs.
Seeing his second brother so determined, what else could Yun Hai do?
“I’ll come tomorrow to take the grain to town to sell.” After paying the public grain tax, there were still over four thousand catties left. It was a bountiful year with good rainfall.
Yun Hai didn’t stay long; though they’d harvested the grain, there were still acres of stubble to gather.
Mid-Autumn festival was still a busy time in the fields.
And over at Yun Father’s side.
Upon returning home, he saw Yun Mother lying on the bed, worn and extremely tired.
“Old woman, are you unwell?” Now, Yun Father was worried about any sickness in the family.
Yun Mother saw that her old man was back, “I’m not unwell, just getting on in years. Carrying heavy burdens gets tiring.”
Yun Father thought about his time taking care of Yun Lei in the provincial capital while it was the season for harvesting rice, the old woman must have harvested their own and helped with their second son’s as well.
Yun Mother thought that if the old man was back, then the second son must have returned as well.
Preparing to get up to check on Yun Lei.
“Second son is back, I’ll go see him now.”
Yun Father pressed his wife, who was trying to get up, back down, “He’s back now, you can visit him anytime. You lie down and rest, let me give you a massage.”
This massage was something he learned in the provincial hospital, where the doctor had advised him to massage Yun Lei’s legs.
“Is the money from the youngest enough to cover the medical expenses?”
