Chapter 739: Chapter 740: Bai is Angry Because of This_1 Chapter 739: Chapter 740: Bai is Angry Because of This_1 Li Ai pats her hand with a gleeful smile, “Young lady, your health matters. Look at you, so skinny, barely any meat on your bones. Girls should have a little bit of flesh to look good.”
Such a young lady, she has the factory running in full swing.
The benefits are tremendous.
Truly impressive.
“Hey, Old Zhang, stop practicing calligraphy. The young lady is here,” Li Ai yells loudly.
Old Zhang has been missing the girl.
If she didn’t come before Chinese New Year, that would be something.
However, it’s been quite a while since the New Year. The young lady hasn’t even shown up, which annoys him a bit. If she won’t come, then so be it.
The old man is getting older and tends to take things more seriously.
Upon hearing his wife’s vociferous call, Old Zhang puts down his brush and comes out of his study.
“Madam Meng, you honor us with your presence today, making our humble abode shine,” teases Old Zhang while looking at Meng Yunhan.
These words leave Meng Yunhan somewhat bewildered. It seems Old Zhang is a bit upset.
“I went back to my hometown during Chinese New Year, so I didn’t manage to visit earlier,” explains Meng Yunhan, unperturbed.
She really did go back for holidays, there was no lie about it.
“Not a native of Kyoto?” Old Zhang asks in confusion.
Meng Yunhan could see Old Zhang’s anger gradually dissipating, “No, I wasn’t born and brought up in Kyoto. Both my maternal and paternal families are in the south.”
Old Zhang gives a light cough, “I assumed you were locals.”
However, the guess was that the girl, now with investors and having started the food factory, stopped acknowledging old acquaintances. Who knew she just went home for holidays and wasn’t even in Kyoto at all. Getting angry over it was pointless.
Meng Yunhan takes responsibility, “It’s my fault for not telling you in advance, and for that, I want to apologize. I’ve brought some gifts, including a bottle of good liquor my dad got from his friend’s factory. I’ll accompany you for a drink later.”
“Okay.”
With the lunch over, Old Zhang’s anger has long subsided.
With Robert not in Kyoto these days, there is no one to accompany him for a drink.
Realistically, it’s not that no one is there to accompany him for a drink, but rather he chooses not to interact with those merely interested in building connections.
This is typical aloofness.
Only when it was getting dark did Meng Yunhan return home.
As the school started, Meng Yunhan became busy; schooling during the day and working at the factory after classes.
“Hanhan, Lu Hongxuan is back,” whispers Zhang Menmen.
Meng Yunhan’s eyes flickered, “Back? Is he in Kyoto now?”
Zhang Menmen shakes her head, “I don’t know. He only wrote to me saying he’s coming back. The letter was sent before Chinese New Year, so considering the timeline, he should be back by now.”
Even though Zhang Menmen didn’t send any replies to Lu Hongxuan, as she became accustomed to receiving four letters from him each month, his weekly mails were not a surprise.
Meng Yunhan becomes cautious.
Lu Hongxuan is back in Kyoto. She had told Ahao about it earlier so he would be on alert as well.
Meng Yunhan teases Liu Zihan with a laugh, “Zihan, did you go home alone over the holiday?”
Liu Zihan instantly grasps the implication and blushes slightly, “It was winter break, and of course, I went home alone.”
Meng Yunhan is sure Zihan has understood her implications.
“What do you think of Xiaolu? He’s thirty years old, the same age as my Ahao. My Little Huzi is almost four years old.”
Ahao is two years older than Lu Jianjun.
Yet Meng Yunhan casually brushes it off, pretending they’re of the same age.
